  1. Once we get past all the jokes (which I would enjoy) any ideas on this. I like getting out 7ish on weekend mornings but want to try and not wake the neighbourhood or the Mrs! Thought about pushing it up the road but it's an incline so not really doable. Cheers for any input.
  2. Hi All, refurbishing my rack and can't get the pinion bearings to close up enough to get the circlip in. I suspect that the dust plate is the culprit as I managed to damage it taking bearings out. I have tried to make it as flat as poss . By a small miracle does anyone have a spare I could buy? Thanks.
  3. Thanks all, yes I sourced an elise rebuild kit from titan allegedly. Chris I am not sure the Bush would come out anyway without drawing the rack into the body having thought about it a bit more . I may get away doing only one cup by drawing the rack all the way through to get access to both ends. Just trying to avoid faff of redrilling and pinning if I can. Any thoughts? Cheers Anfy
  4. Thanks guys, managed to source some. They have a gap along one side so can be opened and put over the rack bar. Does anyone know if I can remove the old ones and these can be fitted without removing the cups / buckets again? Cheers
  5. I have refurbished cups and track rods but still have movement perpendicular to rack travel. I need to replace plastic inserts at the rack housing ends. Does anyone know where I can get them or have any lying around that you would be prepared to sell. Cheers.
  6. Tried the RAV forum. Think I'm on the right lines, just after any other views as there's lots of mechanical engineering knowledge on here. Cheers.
  7. Having trouble over last 6 months with a vibration when taking up drive which disappears after a few mins and then intermittently at about 40 mph where car feels like it is driving over a short rumble strip. Local garage replaced transfer box oil which removed problem 1 for a while but now its back. I am thinking there is an issue with transfer box itself. Car is a 57 plate 2 litre petrol auto. Any wise words really appreciated. Cheers.
  8. Could rubber beading work? Loads of sizes available.
  9. A couple of orders during this time. No drop in great service as far as I can see. Well done
  10. I sent my supersprint propshaft to Dunning and Fairbank in Leeds. For about 100 pounds they re tubed, fitted sealed for life bearings (No need to worry about grepasing) and balanced. They were really helpful and seemed to know their stuff.
  11. I would echo making sure jack is low enough. Mine isn't and so every time I lift I have to run tyres up on planks or similar to get car high enough off the ground for the jack.
  12. I did this job over the winter. If it's a supersprint the bushes are rubber cone shapes. Part code y9. That is what the black plastic piece is that looks like a washer. Its actually a the same rubber bush you can see at the front but squashed flat. One pushes in from the back and one from the front. They fit over a metal tube that protrudes forward from the chassis and is what the bolt you can see at the front screws into. The wishbone must come off to remove the cone that fits from the back. This part was easy as these bushes work out with a little pursuation. The metalastic bushes that are in the back of the wishbone were a different story. They were very stiff and needed cutting or pressing out. They were slso very stiff to fit the new one. Also be careful when removing the wishbone. You need to undo at the rear and pull the rear through the side skin before you can manouvre the wishbone forward to get the front of the wishbone over the metal tube and release the cone at the back of the front of the wishbone. When you move the back of the wishbone through the sideskin you will need to flex the wishbone to prevent it damaging the sideskin. Hope that is of some help.
  13. I also inherited a rose joined a frame. To my mind this set up must eliminate movement vs the rubber bush arrangement particularly as they wear and age. Only watch out is that there is play between circlips and bearing. I bought 0.1mm shims so now, in theory, play is less that 0.1mm.
  14. Could the misfire be caused by fuel vaporisation? I'm sure that's why the previous owner of mine moved the fuel pump to the back of the car and also went solid state at the same time. Just a thought. Certainly would explain why it stops when it cools down.
  15. Have you checked for spanners?

  17. John/Jonathan. I need the same manual. Can you guide me too please. Thanks Andy
  18. Received mine today. What can I say? Absolutely spot on. If your in the market for a new grille then look no further. If you are not, buy one anyway. Keyring designs are great too. Thanks again Richard.
  19. Hi Rich, could I order a 210mm grill for an S3 please. Keyring would be great if you still have some. Ta.
