Doc007
Has anyone had a problem being black-flagged on track days in a 420 on throttle bodies?I'm contemplating an upgrade from 420 spec on a plenum but it was around 100dB when it was 360 spec. Doc007
Sorry about the repetitive post!Nothing seems to work and then three are posted at once! And I can't see any way to delete them!
ScottR400D
You're not the first with the multiple posts......My R400D, which is the same as a 420, is on RBTBs, 220bhp. It's passed noise tests and never been a problem at Snet and Silverstone. IIRC it was about 102dBA. It's an SV though, so the intake is under the hood. Doc007
Thanks Scott.102dB would fall foul of quite a lot of track days. Do you have any sort of noise-reducing throttle body enclose/carbon box.
marvingbiggsicloud.com
No But i have been black flagged at bedford autodrome even without Throttle bodies , mines a 360 but then with uprated cams (210) had a warning and stopped heel and toe on the downshifts near the sound detectors and was ok for the rest of the day.I want to upgrade too and am having to think long and hard as on throttle bodies pretty sure id be well over , carbon back box , front cover and sound deadening on the inside of the bonnet were solutions from who ive been talking to about my upgrade (premier power) . ScottR400D
No, I don't have anything special, ITB filter, standard exhaust, no cat.
Midlifecrisis2001
Hi I have a 2.0 Zetec on Jenvey throttle bodies I appreciate it isn't a Duratec but I'm assuming the similar rules of physics for noise vs energy. My induction noise is loud (K&N filters) but I haven't been black flagged anywhere as yet and typically record sub 100db.
