Alan Bowler
1.8 K series, 633 (like supersport) cams, supersport rev limit, standard otherwise. Used mainly for speed events. My engine is with a specialist having needed some major remediation. A new standard head has been fitted... and the tensioner hole is for auto rather than manual. So, they need to drill a hole for the manual tensioner, but this is tricky in-situ (for "tricky" read "expensive" as they need to make a jig etc.)First, anyone used one of these new metal auto tensioners instead? https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/all-metal-k-series-cambelt-tensioner-lhp100900-lhp100900l-25-45-75-zr-zs-zt-freelander-tf If thats good for my engine, it looks a simple solution. If thats not good, has anyone got a jig I (they) can borrow for drilling it-situ, for a suitable donation? Thanks AB
Comp Sec
Alan Always used a standard auto tensioner linished flat and so far no problems. Always renewed with the belt every 3 years or so. The ones I have taken off have had no significant wear.Probably wouldn't survive the revs you will be using after the rebuild!!
oilyhands
An auto tensioner os fine for 633 cams, make sure you change to an auto belt and linish the surface of the tensioner so it is not distorted, or use the metal roller variety.Oily
rj
I will be happy to make a jig if someone has a sketch they want to share with me.
Alan Bowler
Thanks all - will discuss with the garage aiming at metal auto tensioner. Can go manual next time engine comes out (hopefully not soon). Thanks for the offer Regin.
