Rich420R
Hi,Did you manage to find anyone supplying the gear knob? I need one also as the paint has peeled off mine, but I can't find it on Caterhams website or anywhere else. Thanks,Rich
L66TEY
Hi Rich, In the end I accepted defeat and purchased the "standard" 6 Speed Superlight Gear Knob from Caterham (Reference: 30G022A). But I did also establish that by choice they dont offer the "R" 6 speed gear knob as a spare - seemingly it is exclusive for factory builds or new kits. ScottR400D
Presumably then, they don't do it at all any more, given the 6 speed is no longer available? So, if they did have any, they might as well, flog them off.
L66TEY
Very good point - admittedly I didn't know the 6-speed has been discontinued. It was David Ridley of CC whom told me this at Snetterton last summer.I guess it now makes the "6 Speed R" gear knobs 'even' more special :D
2cv7
6 speed knobs are out of stock at the moment. I have just bought one from Alistair Westle on Facebook. A knob in the hand is worth 2 in the bush........That does not make sense......Sorry.... Elliott

L66TEY
Thank you Scott. If only that had been the case when I wanted one. Will settle for the non "R" version - unless someone wants to swap
ScottR400D
I’ve ordered one from AW, fancied a ‘silver’ knob for a change. Cheaper than CC too. Them being in stock does give the lie to what you were told though. They’re there for anyone to order.
L66TEY
As it hapens - I've actually got a spare used silver one now - but expect the one from AW will be new. AW did some decals for me - he's a great guy.Re What CC told me about the 6 speed R gear knob - in fairness it was last summer at a Snetterton Track day - I guess before they dropped the 6 speed gear box. I can imagine they now have a few left - but at £92 a pop, Im happy with the cheaper black one I bought :)
ScottR400D
The 6 speed was discontinued in the first half of 2019 I believe. I was in conversation with someone who was ordering a 420 in July 19 and wasn’t able to specify the 6 speed.
