  1. Looking for a long nose storm cover for an SV bodied car, if anyone is looking to sell please let me know.
  2. Brett I hadn't thought of that to be honest but it makes total sense really, may look to go down this route myself as it keeps the engine bay tidy
  3. That's made a huge difference! I'm glad to see how well they can turn out as mine has a really matt look to it right now
  4. Thanks for the heads up, I will be sure to do that!
  5. That has turned out amazing! This definitely seems the best route to go down. I clean, and detail my car almost too often so I will make sure to keep on top of the polishing. I already have some metal polish from Dodo Juice waiting.
  6. I will get some photos loaded on here when it's done, will be in a month when the car I booked in to the garage.
  7. Thanks for the feedback guys. Your exhausts look great and are exactly what I'm aiming for. Going to have the garage take them off and get them professionally polished. I was going to have a go myself but I'm limited for time with work right now so don't mind getting someone else on the job on this occasion. I just think the polished finish looks great against the paint job and really makes the car stand out, and Nigel is seems we have the same colour car so it's great to see how good it looks!
  8. So answered my own question... But for anyone that's interested, I have spoken to Caterham just now and they said the non-polished is identical and a professional polisher, or even just a good hand polish by myself should start to bring a finish like their polished items. Apparently Caterham started offering the polished exhausts only after seeing customers doing the polishing themselves to the old exhausts. If anyone has any before and after photos please do share. All the work on my car is done by Rally Prep in Newquay and they have just told me they have someone who polishes exhausts among other parts. I will go down this route and post some photos myself once it's done.
  9. So I have seen the cost of a polished exhaust and it's pretty pricey! Before I jump in I'm wondering is the standard exhaust of the exact same material and construction as the polished version? And therefore can my standard exhaust be taken off and polished to the exact same finish if sent to a metal polished. I'm currently looking to by a decat from Caterham either way, and the polished one is out of stock till late July, so I'm thinking I can buy the non-polished version then pay to get it polished, along with the rest of my exhaust but I'm not sure if it works like that and if the same finish can be achieved? Thanks in advance for any help!
  10. Thanks again for all the advice guys. I was thinking to get the car to caterham to sort the idle issue anyway, but if doing RBTB's I may as well do it all in one go. Chris that's a brilliant build blog, I'm going to work my way through it as you have a lot of parts I'm looking to fit. Going to check out premier power engines as well for an alternative to caterham.
  11. Good to know everyone rates the throttle bodies. My car really struggles with the idle when cold, it's better started in neutral than in gear but still it cuts off a couple of times on a really cold morning. A few people have told me they had this issue and sorted it with a remap.
  12. Thanks for all the information guys, I will look into Team Leos as an alternative then, and Rally Prep in Cornwall have also told me they have done similar set ups on west fields and caterhams, and they are 10 minutes from me which is helpful. Good to have a few options to weigh up. It would certainly be good to have a better idle as the car really struggles when cold. It's the noise that I love with the ITB's, and I will likely do a cat bypass as well. I know Evo magazine did both those mod's on their Caterham and they said it was instantly the best sounding car on the fleet.
  13. I'm looking to fit ITB's to my 2015 Caterham 7 420R SV (Duratec engine). The Caterham roller barrel throttle bodies are seriously pricey at 4K. Now I'm new to the caterham world, but in the past have modified other cars and know they ITB's are usually around 2k. I would be interested to hear other owners feedback on the caterham RBTB's and if they believe it was worth the 4K. Then I would also be interested to hear if anyone sourced ITB's elsewhere?
  14. I actually needed a 5speed R gear knob, not sure why I wrote 6 :/ managed to get one off caterham in the end thankfully.
  15. Looking to buy a half hood to fit my caterham 7 420R SV. Thought I would see if anyone is parting ways with one before buying from one of the usual suppliers as in the current climate they all have 6 week lead times. Seems materials are hard to come by, and obviously many are still off work right now understandably. If I need to wait that's fine, but thought this may be worth a go. If anyone is looking to sell one please let me know. Rich
  16. Hi, Did you manage to find anyone supplying the gear knob? I need one also as the paint has peeled off mine, but I can't find it on Caterhams website or anywhere else. Thanks, Rich
  17. I have just bought my first caterham a week or so ago, a 420R, and I have found that it keeps cutting out when cold. With being new to caterhams I don't know what could be the cause so any advice would be great. The car basically struggles to idle when started. This lasts for about 10 minutes until it's warmed up. I have to heal and toe to keep the Revs on while it's warming up. I'm going to call the dealership I bought it from tomorrow but thought I would ask on here as well.
