Caterham-friendly MOT Garage nr Bath?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My first experience of getting an MOT for a Caterham is coming up. I don't suppose anyone has any Bath/Bristol area test garage recommendations?

I've got my fingers crossed that all will be well!

Thanks,

Guy

My first experience of getting an MOT for a Caterham is coming up.

Have you found the advice on preparation? In addition to the usual for any vehicle:

  1. Handbrake cable adjustment.
  2. Recently applied brakes.
  3. Hot catalyst.
  4. Understanding which emissions test is appropriate.

And I have my propshaft UJs greased while it's up on their ramp.

Thanks Jonathan.

I've been reading up on your last point at least. It is kit-built, according to the VIN, but registered 2015, so my understanding is that unfortunately it wouldn't get away with just a smoke test.

Thanks,

Guy

I was asked for my VIN Code so that the tester knew the engine variant in my car when doing the emissions test

If you need it you can find the detail in

DVSA
Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency
In Service Exhaust Emission Standards for Road Vehicles
Nineteenth Edition

All my car needed was a rear light bulb that tester replaced FOC
