Jan T
Interesting article in LF about fitting this and Mick Smith (the author) can see no reason why it cannot be fitted to an unmodified VVC engine unlike the Caterham set up. Can someone please enlighten me as to why the CC set up is a no no for the VVC? Thanks Jan
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted March 9, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted March 9, 2003 Possibly the VVC mechanism & timing belt at the rear of the engine being too close or fouling the oil filler neck to the dry sump tank, which on the Caterham setup is above the bellhousing - the tank being in the bellhousing? Stu.
Luke Beaumont
I've sort of looked into this for mine. AIUI the fouling of the bellhousing sump tower is one issue, but easily avoided with a separate tank. The other issue is that the VVC inlet manifold is chunkier, and I think I've heard it said that this fouls the scavenge pump.
