Exhaust paste or not on sigma 2014 car

Don't use paste. It hardens and crumbles. If you need a sealant on tubular joints, you can get a copper coloured Hermetite exhaust sealant like a silicone. Ordinary silicone sealant is ok, as long as it doesn't get near catalytic convertor. Just a light smear on tube ends ... helps lubricate joints for assembly too.

On my 2015 R400 I had a small leak where the cat pipe enters the front of the silencer and the silencer kept rotating downwards. I changed the original clamp but it was the same as the original.

I tried a few different pastes with the clamps. No different.

In the end I fitted a Jetex heavy duty clamp. No problems of any sort since.

On my 2012 sigma I have two different silencers (the peashooter and a modified R500 repack able) plus a cat bypass pipe.  I have never used paste so that I can easily unbolt and swap as required.  As long as the clamps are properly adjusted I have never had any problems with leakage.
