Dannyboy
Looks ok.. can’t tell the wall thickness of the structure to determine whether it’s heavy duty or not.i’d keep an eye out for a good old Ez-up however. Proven and spares readily available. For corner weights- a few use the bags that strap round the posts - filled with sand or similar. I have the plastic tubs that fix around the legs you fill with water. However, in the event of high winds they won’t stop it moving. If high winds I normally try and strap it to the trailer.,
Area Representative Richard Price Posted November 14, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted November 14, 2018 I use an EZUP Speedshelter 2 - at 12' x 8' (yes, they're American), they are an ideal paddock space size (unlike 3m x 3m that encroach on your neighbours paddock slot at places like Gurston and Loton).I peg mine down on grass, but use sand filled weights on solid surfaces. CheshireCat
Thanks Richard and Dan for your replies. I have a few months before next season so will keep a watch out and maybe review the budget.
Mark Durrant
I also have an EZUP and have drilled an extra hole on each leg so I can lower the height reducing the risk from wind. I generally secure one end to the trailer and the other to either a spares box or spare wheel using ratchet straps.
Support Team Shaun_E Posted November 14, 2018 Support Team Share Posted November 14, 2018 Another for E-Z Up Speedshelter 2: http://ezup-direct.co.uk/speedIf you look around the paddock, you'll see more of these than all the others put together for good reason. They fit a Caterham perfectly and they are solidly constructed. We've had ours for a good few years now and it's had a lot of use! Not the cheapest but IMO worth the extra. We always strap ours to the trailer or some other fairly immovable object. Overnight we lower it over the car and strap to the car. You can drill extra holes in the legs to get a custom height setting. We bought ours as part of a bulk buy and got about 10% off so if you can get some other people interested then that might be an opportunity. CheshireCat
Thanks Shaun, i see they come with a cover and a wheeled bag is extra. Are the wheeled bags useful ? Any tips on how to carry the awning to events ? Can it be carried on a minno trailer ?
robmar
I have a wheeled bag on my non ez-up and it does make it easy to move around...Mine goes in the back of the tow car (freelander)To be honest i should have also gone for an official one as they are worth it, but due to my tight northern routes i didn'tPerhaps interested in a bulk deal if you can sort....rob
Support Team Shaun_E Posted November 14, 2018 Support Team Share Posted November 14, 2018 I don't have a wheeled bag and never really thought I needed one. Our E-Z Up travels in the rear of the van but I have once carried it on the trailer strapped between front and rear arches of the Caterham. If you have a tyre rack on your trailer then you could probably rig something up to carry it on that.
Mark Durrant
I carry my EZUP on the tyre rack in my trailer as I do not take spare wheels to events. I bought four u-clamps that fit the diameter of the tyre rack tube and used these to attach two pieces of aluminum long enough to bolt across the width of the tyre rack. I then use a ratchet strap to keep the EZUP in place. I know Mike Sankey carries his EZUP on the trailer strapped length ways between the front and rear wheels on the opposite side to the exhaust.
