A muntjac deer collided with my rear cycle wing at 60 mph ish

On a country lane.

The wing became detached and split in the centre which allowed the rear light assemble to make contact with the rear of the car and put a small dent in the body work about the size of a 50p

Can anyone recommend a repair specialist I’m in Birmingham.

Need new wing etc.

Not aware of any specialists your way - Leicester McMillan Motorsport, Caterham Midlands at Donington and Nick Potter.

What damage has it done to the sideskin ? Usually, a wing being ripped off pulls out rivnuts / tears the ally.

Can you post up a picture or two - maybe an easy home repair with some help from a local member.

Re 50p dent - when you look at cars at shows / meetings lots have boot dents from items inside the boot - patina!!

It sounds as if you got away lightly, you wouldn't one of those things coming into your screen.  Even the car doesn't sound too badly damaged.   When I had a small deer run into the front of my Morgan, the bill came to around £5000!

Chuck away the old wing and buy a new one from Caterham.  If it's not a standard gel coat colour, then you will have to find a paint shop to match it up.  Are there any other areas which need doing whilst the colour is in the gun?

Any holes where the bolt heads have torn through, shouldn't show once the new wing is on, but put some washers behind them, or better still use plastic number plate bolts so when the next one hits they just break off and won't do any damage to the skin.

Best of luck with it.  Let us know how you get on.

Hi,

Thank you for all the responses.

Sent the photos over to Nick Potter, who’s going to give me a quote.

Don't want to go through insurance.

Looking at it myself no damage to the skin but the rivnuts have pulled out

Yes manage to stay on the road.

Only just had it performance tuned by Dave Andrews on the 20 Oct

All the best

Jon
