  5. Hi, I’ve got a 1.4 K series. Every now and then regardless of the engine being cold or hot the starter motor plays up. When I press the start button, it just makes a whining noise. If I turn the ignition switched off get out and and rock the Caterham back and forth in gear. Then then get back in press the starter button with the ignition on, the engine will start normally. It has got a lightened flywheel fitted and covered about 4K miles from new. Any advise would be appreciated. Regards Jon

  9. Newbie to other newbie’s K series. Good week for the Caterham, I’m so impressed with the knowledge and technical expertise I’ve encountered so far. Thank goodness for word-of-mouth and the forums. Following on from DVA installing the K01 kit which took the Caterham to another level in performance. And Nick Potter converting the wheels from 14” to 13” . 6” Fronts and 8” rear Avon ZZS tyre's which has improved the handling by a phenomenal margin. 19 March New Powerspeed 4-2-1 exhaust fitted by Fast Road Conversions group buy excellent job very impressed with the exhaust, and the installation. They did a first class job. Sounds wonderful and mid-range torque was much improved. 20th March. Re-mapped by Kmaps Mark, did a fantastic job engine running so much smoother. And performance much improved again! Can highly recommend. Worth every penny. Mark, also recommended that I use higher–octane fuel example Shell V-power in future. Booked in again with DVApower 24th March to have. New oil pressure sender, removal of foam sump baffle and Dave’s modified sump gasket fitted. With oil changed to Castrol Edge full synthetic 5W/40 and a new oil filter. Also new K&N air filter fitted. New 4 point Caterham harness fitted by Nick Potter. JCB
  10. Probably being over cautious got the standard plastic dashboard. Want to install a time clock in the dash. Has anyone successfully done this? And if so best why to cut the 52mm hole out. Thanks JCB
  11. Tim, Thank you for the reassurance. My wife and I are in the process of planning a trip from Calais to Lake Como. In Late May early June for 8-10 days. Route planning in progress, but want to try the car out on the Oberalpstasse & the Via Alpsu on route. Also need to find out about a tag, for automatic payment of motorway tolls and if the tag will work in the Caterham being so low and having a flat window screen. But going to do my best to avoid the motorways if possible My insurance is due for renewal in May. So going to make sure we have full European breakdown cover. Jon
  12. Hi Alex Happy new year. Thank you for the response. Hoping to arrange fitting in February. In the process of getting the Caterham booked in with Dave Andrews. Having oil and filter changed and getting rid of the foam sump baffle evidently these can break up and cause engine failure. Just thought I'd let you know in case you weren't aware. I wrote to Dave. I understand that you do a modification that does away with the sump foam baffle, which I understand from the forums can break up and cause engine failure. Dave's response. Yes the foam needs to go and a modified sump gasket needs to be fitted. I keep the gaskets in stock. Rgds Dave
  13. Hi Dave, I’m a newbie got the Caterham in May last year my wife and I toured the west coast of Ireland in June. We are both keen on going to Europe but I’m apprehensive about having no support on my first visit with the Car. Can you please let me have the dates to book ferries and hotel’s, as this might be an option for us. Or advise if someone has to drop out Best regards Jon

  19. A muntjac deer collided with my rear cycle wing at 60 mph ish On a country lane. The wing became detached and split in the centre which allowed the rear light assemble to make contact with the rear of the car and put a small dent in the body work about the size of a 50p Can anyone recommend a repair specialist I’m in Birmingham. Need new wing etc.
  20. Hi I'm a newbie, Got my Caterham 7 1.4 K in May 2018 only 2k on the clock Just had the wheels converted from 14" to 13" by Nick Potter Got the Caterham booked in with Dave Andrews in October to have the K01 kit fitted Which should give an extra 8-10 BHP Dave, did say that a a decent 4-2-1 would give and improvement. And the system below ticks all the boxes whats the drop dead date for the group buy ? And whats your opinion on on having or not having a CAT fitted. Full 4 2 1 System with integrated CAT = £1680 inc VAT (Discounted price £1512) Fully polished = £200 Plus VAT Fitting =£200 Plus VAT Best regards Jon

  23. Hi Dave, It’s a Caerbont speedo 0-160 MPH I spoke with Ian this morning the technician at Caerbont who’s been very helpful and hasn’t charged me highly recommended him. When I changed the wheels from 14” to 13” I recalibrated the speedo using the PPU code but this code was for a wheel pulse frequency Not a gearbox pick up which my Caterham has. He has now inputted a different code which should sort the problem out he’s posting the speedo back to me today should have it tomorrow hopefully all should be sorted. Might have to make a minor adjustment if out by more than 10% against my sat nav. Thank you for sparing the time to help, much appreciated Jon
  24. I have got the Caebort speedo programming codes The PPU code for my wheel is 039440 but I think that code only works if the rear wheels link to the speedometer Mine is linked to the gearbox. But thank you for your help. Jon
