Track Day and Hillclimb Tyres

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am a new member, with some racing experience, and have just bought my first Seven, a  Series 3 with a 124 bhp crossflow motor.

I need to change the tyres for a set in the  MSA List 1, (to comply with hillclimb and sprint regs, ) for the

Specialist Production Class.    Can someone give me advice as to which tyres I should buy, to best suit the car, please?

Many Thanks,

Russ P

Hi Mike,

Thanks for pointing that out....my mistake,,again!    I was reading 11.9.1.5,  when in fact 11.6.2 actually applies..as you said.  I'm pleased I asked the question.

Will try for Avon  ZZS,   as you recommended,   hopefully available in 185/60/14

Thanks again,

Russ

Russ,

As the car has a XF in it, is it dedion or live axle? (So Ford, 4.25" or Ital 3.75" pcd).

Either way Minilite copies such as Minators (as fitted by Caterham ) would be as good as anything.

Russ,

I've been using 185/55-13 ZZS's all around this year.

i've tried 185's front and 215 rear, but I'm happier with the same size all around. (I have a little over 150bhp)

I'm actually using 6 1/2" MB wheels, but they will be equally happy on 6" wheels.
