Speed sensor on 1.6 K Series Academy - Roadsport B (01/11/2004)

Hi everyone,

I already have the car 1 year, so thinking of finally getting my speedo working. Not needed on the track, but if I want to pass Belgian MOT, it is quite crucial ...

To avoid an endless search, is there some-one with a car with the same spec and age who knows which system was being used. I have the electronic speedo and odometer. So is the sensor in the gearbox or on one of the weels?

I don't know when the different types were used. 

Can you add a photo of your speedometer?

You might have to get underneath and have a look:

• Any wiring visible in either location?
• Is there a sensor near the rear wheel?
• What's connected to the left side of the gearbox?

If it's a wheel drive NB there are a couple of factory notices on improving the wiring and fitting the sensor. And lots in the archives on adjusting the gap.

I'm pretty sure this will be the one you need, speak to Redline or Caterham.

As Stu said, the speedo is gearbox driven via a quil, that plugs into a connector in the transmission tunnel and then onwards wiring into the speedo.

Hi,

Thx for the answers. I am going to take a look tomorrow at the left hand side of the gearbox. It will be probably a gearbox driven speedo, since there is nothing to see at the rear wheels.

I' ll visit Redline on 16.08, as soon as I am sure about the part I need, I' ll notify Chris.
