virden
1700 Super Sprint with new breather set up: I have breather pipes from the lower block and top of the rocker box draining into a catch tank on top of the gearbox. I am finding that on idle I can see vapour escaping from the tank air filter and over the course of 500 miles the tank accumulates almost half a pint of oil, is this normal? It is clean oil, no water or foam apparent.
elie boone
Is the mist coming from the sump ? if so try to plump the sump hose into the valve cover and then you run only from the valve cover to the catch tank.

Nick T
Had a similar issue with my Xflow a few years ago. Turned out to be a broken piston ring. The cure I went for, was to get it re-bored and forged pistons. Virtually no oil in breather tank after that.Probably worth doing a compression test to see what you get. Nick
