Dashboard mounted mirror with normal windscreen?

Hello All,

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a dashboard-mounted rear view mirror (e.g. something like this: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/mirrors/demon-tweeks-classic-interior-mirror )  in a Seven with a normal windscreen (not aeroscreens)? I thought I might be able to mount one using the two screws in the middle of the scuttle above the dashboard, but there's not much clearance between those and the windscreen, and perhaps that would stop the  mirror being angled properly?

Just been in a friend's TR2 which has that arrangement, and I really like it. The stock mirror fell off the windscreen years ago and I've been using a small sucker-mounted one since then. Am going to re-fix the orginal one if the dashboard mounting idea doesn't work.

Was your sucker the clever type that has a lever?

You could try the sucker one lower down just to see if you like it.

No, the sucker mirror is just a simple splat-it-on version; it holds remarkably well actually - it just looks a bit naff! Yes, I've tried it low down where the dash mounted one would probably be - it works fine. Just a cosmetic disaster.

You could mount it on a piece of 3mm thick ali to bring it a little bit forward from the windscreen.

Doug Tulloch has one mounted on the dash, drop him a message and ask him how, have to wait a few days as he is still in Belgium.
