Swinging pendulum noise after switch off

After any length of drive in the car, no matter how slowly I make my way up our ever so slightly uphill drive, I get a pendulum swinging noise from the rear of the car for around 30-45 seconds. Also noticed this at petrol stations too.

Could anyone advise if this is normal? I've been under the car recently to look at the diff but there was nothing obvious there.

Thanks

It's only once stationary I can hear it, to be honest I wouldn't be able to over the exhaust with the engine running. The rate of deceleration seems to change how far it sounds like it's 'swinging' though, and how long the noise carries on for.

Maybe I'm just concerning myself needlessly as I haven't noticed any impact when driving.

My 1.4 LE does this . I am pretty sure it's the fuel float or maybe a tank baffle . It's done it for years!

it does vary with the level of fuel in the tank . I only really notice it when I reverse the car into the garage and then  switch off and it lasts about 10 seconds.

John.
