LesG
Hi guys, as the L7C championship has banned these tyres for anyone 'roadgoing', and with my championship fixtures clashing with the more Northern events of your calendar, I am currently favouring the ACB10 tyres for my car for this year (my S3 is 1986 vintage, and my championship is allowing ALL List 1b, where applicable)..So, I'm just looking for chassis set-up advice for swapping from the radial Kumho I've previously used, to these crossply Avons.Cheers, Les. robmar
I suspect opinions differ slightly but sure it is something like1. front camber around zero2. rear camber, I have moved to the correct 0.25" rear ears, but suspet you could be ok wth normal ones3. you will no doubt have to change the rake - the rear kumhos will be taller i suspect4. probably need a FF after all that as wellSimon swapped between slicks and kumhos last year and no doubt has an opinion*blabla*Does your championship allow ACB10's in road going, or is your car old enough to take advantage of the loop hole...rob
Nigel Fox
Hi Les,I'm switching to ACB10s, mine is also a 1986 car.Have you made a decision on sizes? I'm thinking 7.0/21.0-13 front and 8.0/22.0-13 rear.I previously used the 215 Khumos all round, they are "tight" under the front wing stays.I'm going to leave my front at 2.5 degrees neg camber, rear is live axle and see how it goes. LesG
Rob, yes, our championship is allowing them in Roadgoing, the regs I've read stipulate the use of List 1b, and my car is 1986, so the exemption will stand.Nigel, yep, I was thinking the same sizes as you, my front wheels are 7 inch wide, and my rears 8. Simon.Rogers
Les G just doesn't trust me after I have told him what to do.-0.5 front and use the -0.25 rear de dion ears.I can not remember the sizes we used to use but I would now try to go as big as possible.Lower pressures than radials 14 -15 psi cold.I used the cross ply slicks last year and the rear was still on the radial ears, By the end of the year I could see that and just looking at the car it looked wrong. Now my tyres are ruined and will clearly not be up to this years job. So I am bound to be at a disadvantage.
LesG
Simon, it's not that I didn't trust you, It's more that I couldn't remember what you said, after I thought I wouldn't be able to use the ACB10's........Did you say less rake aswell?Anyone got a set of -0.25 ears gathering dust........?
