Dave,

'can't help with the with the first four digits, but  "B36 2169 M0" and B36 2170M0" match some standard dampers I have here from around that era.

Standard track front dampers are 355mm between the eyes, and wide track use the same dampers but with a 27mm spacer added between the rod and the eye.

A 2004 car would usually use a dedion tube with the underslung damper mounting boss rather than the earlier through the centre of the  tube boss, so the open length centre of the eye to centre of the eye will be around 476mm. (if you have a through the tube mounting, then the dampers need to be around 30mm shorter)

Dave,

M0's are standard dampers. (Some later cars have M2's on the rear, but they are very similar to M0's)

M1's are the stiffer "race" dampers (designed to be used with 250 and 215lbs/in springs) which, in my opinion, are too stiff (particularly the rears).

SLR's will have been supplied with M0 dampers unless otherwise specified.
