Superlight R - Lamborghini Orange & bare carbon wings

A much regrettable sale of my Caterham SLR - hasn't had enough use since the arrival of my son and move of my job last yr.

It is a standard spec Superlight R, as follows:

2003 Superlight R with1.8 series VHPD 190 BHP engine, 6 Speed, Lamborghini Orange, bare carbon cycle and rear wings, black Pack, 6" and 8" Black Caterham 13" wheels With CR500's, Apollo Tank, FIA Roll Bar (petty strut also available), Tillet Seats, Caterham 4 point Harnesses, Quick release Momo Steering Wheel, Carbon dash, Heater, Full Weather Equipment & SBFS extras also available. 32k miles.

The guy I bought the car off (in Jan 2013)  had owned the car from virtually new. Has been serviced by Caterham South and more recently Millwood Caterham (cambelt, 12k service, etc) and Caterham specialist. All bills, MOTs, documents, etc. Service just complete last week and MOT May.

It is a simply fantastic car - and one of the few un-modified but highly sought after Superlight Rs.

Based in South Oxfordshire/Didcot area.

Was £19k, now reduced to £17,990 to sell.

Drop me a msg or call on 07977 299948.

I would be interested in a swap or px for a 2004 onwards Elise 111.

If it's a genuine SLR (didn't think they made them as late as 2003, what No.SLR is it?) then £16-16.5k is ridiculously cheap (even with 32k miles)!

A couple of late decent SLR gone for £19-21k in the last year and they're still a very sought after car.

Stick it on pistonheads and add £3k to your price ;)

Or...take it to Sevens and Classics at Brands.

After the debates about price and reaching BC consensus that my revised price was fair, I have now found the car I want to buy so I need to sell the SLR fairly soon. So I have reduced the price to £17,990. I would (reluctantly) take c.£17.5k to sell. now on PH:

This is a bargain at this price!

Some new information has come to light on the history of my car, which helps to answer your question Mark (no it has a 'C' in the chassis number)... Harrie Kandola (kand300, who prints Low Flying) has been in touch with me as follows...

"I see you have your Seven for sale.  This was originally my car.  You may already know this info - I bought it in 2003 from a dealer in Northwich as a built car which had not been SVA'd and registered (originally built by the son of Jack Walker - Blackburn Rovers Chairman).  It was a Touring Roadsport with factory VHPD upgrade (hence why it has no Superlight R badge) with unpainted body and green fibreglass wings, yellow nose cone, leather seats and rear wheel carrier.  I got the car SVA'd and registered (not by Caterham) and then got Kenrick Motors to strip it for painting Lamborgini Orange.  At the same time I upgraded to:

Tillets, Carbon wings, remove wheel carrier, fit Apollo tank, R300 wheels/tyres, black pack windscreen and black lights.

I actually only drove it for about 1000 miles and only sold it as Caterham made me a great offer to buy it as they had a buyer looking for a similar spec car."

He goes on to say that he was always interested in buying it back but that timing isn't right now so he'll have to let it go. So I thought it only fair to be honest and upfront with this new information. I wasn't aware of any of this, hence only adding now - to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Caterham sold it to the previous owner as a 'Superlight R' (I have the Caterham invoice!) and I under the same assumption, but none-the-less it is still a high spec & highly desirable car. I have updated my PH advert, and also updated/changed the photos for better ones...

My price for a badged SLR was cheap, so I feel that my price is still a fair price for a high-spec car, so it still remains for sale (2 viewings booked in the next week)...

Thats a bit naughty from Caterham - but the perenial problem with 7s.  What makes an SLR different from a lower spec car apart from the different parts bolted to the same chassis? You could build an SLR spec from a 1.4 car- if you were willing to spend the cash.  However, by buying used from CC, you shouldnt be exposed to the risk of buying a car that is pretending to be something it isnt.
