Which device to play back footage at events?

Micro SD John?

I could do a deal on a Mk1 Samsung tablet, now that it has been superseded in my set of too many devices. That is, if a 7" screen is a suitable size.

I"ll need to remove my data from it.

I have no thought yet on pricing.

Any Android phone or tablet which takes SD or Micro SD cards should do the trick. No downloading needed - just stick the card in and access it with a suitable video viewing app.  It may or may not be necessary to shut the tablet/phone down before inserting the card.

Some Android devices don't accept SD cards directly, but will do so using a OTG ("On The Go") adapter like this one.

Thanks for the feedback.

7" screen maybe OK Mark D as I now have glasses (although I dropped them at Aintree and were crunched into the gravel when I found them!)

Have an iPad which plays back fine though the wife won't let me take it away! Hence the need for something cheaper just to play back at events between runs.

Not very computer literate but would a Samsung Tab 2 play back better than a Tab 1 or is it to do with memory capabilities etc?

Thanks.

iPad won't work anyway. No SD card slot or OTG capabilities. You *might* manage to get it to read SD cards via some phenominally expensive Apple accessory, but it probably still wouldn't be able to play the video [Edit: sorry, you say it does, but presumably you have to transfer the file via iTunes which isn't much use in the field].

A Galaxy Tab 1 should be perfectly capable of playing back video, though you might find a Tab 2 gives you slightly smoother playback.

If you don't mind spending a little more than the price of a secondhand Samsung,  the Tesco HUDL 2 is supposed to be very good for £99.

Roger,

My ipad plays back SD card video without any difficulty through the photos app using the apple accessory that you get for £10 or so.  It's excellent for that.

John, sorry that doesn't help you.

Oli
