2015 Blue Book - Fire Extinguishers

Just looking through the changed sections of the blue book and in section K under Competivie Safety, Fire Extinguishers is the following new regulation.

3. A fire extinguisher/extinguishing system must be carried on all vehicles, the minimum requirement being that the system be charged with one of the permitted extinguishants and be operable by the driver whilst normally seated either by manual operation or by a mechanically/electrically assisted triggering system.

It is recommended that all extinguishers are serviced in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines, or every 24 months, whichever is sooner.

Whilst I know that some competitors already have plumbed in fire extinghuishers, does this mean that we all must carry a fire extinguisher ?

This hasn't changed from last year other than the service schedule has been added. Section K are general rules, you then read the relevant section, in our case S, which shows extinguisher as recommended only 10.1.14

There had been an advisory and my thoughts were that it had changed also.  I saw this a few months ago and spoke to the MSA about it.  They say the wording was changing but it only affected race not speed events.

Cheer's Simon, you would have thought that it would have said where Mandatory for the class of event of similar rather than just Mandatory. Deffinatly gives the feeling it's applicable to all.
