Rattle from clutch/gearbox area

I have a K-series 1.8 engine  mated to a Caterham six speed box. (Superlight R300 SV). I have a disconcerting rattle from the clutch/gearbox area whilst the engine is running and the gearbox in neutral. The rattle disappears when I depress the clutch. Do I need to be concerned?  What is the likely cause? Do I need to take any remedial action?

Could be not enough preload on the release bearing or just the input shaft spinning the internals of the box, which is normal. John Vine (I think, apologies if I've got the wrong person!) has written and posted extensively on the CRB preload thing.

my gearbox chunters alot at idle and that goes when I dip the clutch. I was told 14 years ago it was down to the ligtened flywheel and the layshaft , I've have not worried about it since

I am in Fenay Bridge so not a million miles away happy to pop round for a listen
