Seven in SA
My car seems to have developed a funny handling trait. Under acceleration it seems to dive down to the front left of the car. You can feel it pulling accross and need to adjust the steering wheel to correct this. Then if you take your foot of the loud pedal it pulls up to the right, again requiring an adjustment on the steering wheel. My diff seems to be clonking a bit more then normal but the A frame bushes look OK. Any advise? 🙆🏻 Nic
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 7, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted January 7, 2003 Check you haven't got a sticking break - ie. lift each corner off the ground individually and spin the wheels. Could be a sticking caliper. Stu.
Graham Perry
Also check the other ends of the A frame bushes. Also the radius arm bushes when they go can give an effect similar to what you describe though not as extreme. Also check you haven't got a broken or unseated spring and that if your dampers are adjustable that you have them set the same across the axle. It might help if you have someone knowledgeable watch you move away in the car as they could indicate where they think the problem lies.
Peter Carmichael
Have you recently had the tyres off? Did they go back on the same corners as they had been running on previously?
Seven in SA
PC, Tyres have not come off and as far as I know the wheels are on the same side (rears are wider so only two options). My wife is expecting our first born on Thursday and so I am a bit limited for time and assistance to check things. I think I will drop it in for a check up whilst playing with the new born, then I might not miss is too much 😳. Will have a look at the rear end tonight and se if I can spot anything odd. Joe 90
I would check the axle or dedion tube location. You can do a quick check just by trying to roll the tyres with the handbrake on. 99,000 miles so far
westy
find a garage, and ask them to check your tyre pressures
Seven in SA
Westy, Tyre pressure is checked every time I fill up with fuel, they also check my oil and water levels and clean my windscreen. My visits to the garage do not involve me getting out of the car . Nic

Seven in SA
You might have a point Jan. It is starting to get a bit tight in there 😳
Buda
just a thought, although probably really really wrong... if your diffs 'clonking' a bit more than usual could it be a 'wierd' torque steer effect caused by a faulty diff?
jwyatt
I had exactly these symptoms in a Graduates spec race car I borrowed and it turned out the A frame bushes were shot... I'd have a very good look at the whole A frame area if I were you!
J.R.
That unfortunately would involve getting out of the car
