Garth
The cable to my crank sensor has been damaged ☹️ - have found an auto electrician who can do a proper repair. In the meantime can I just cut the wires and re-join them to see me through the next few weeks? I cannot see why not!? Thanks
revilla
Not sure what engine you have but speaking from knowledge of the K-Series - it's a screened cable, so at best you will need to to join together not only the inner wires but also the metal screen - the signal is very low level and if the screening isn't effective the wiring will can pick up interference from the ignition leads giving rotten timing problems, so if you are doing a DIY repair try to keep it neat, keep the screen covering as much as possible and try to keep any ignition wires away from it (I think this is more of a concern on EU2 engines with long wires from the coil packs rather than EU3 with coil-on-plug).
