Member Jonathan Kay Posted December 31, 2022 Member Share Posted December 31, 2022 On manufacturers using it as original coolant:1 This would have enormous marketing value. Some members of my family used to own Decosol, and getting their products used as part of original equipment was a major objective. Some of you will have bought new cars with packets thrown in.2 Manufacturers have the capacity to study some of the claimed effects such as reduced local overheating and reduced corrosion.3 The only example of promotion by a major manufacturer that I can recall for Evans Waterless Coolant was Honda with sone offroad vehicles. That will be in the archives somewhere. IIRC there was the usual lack of evidence. 4 "Some manufacturers are using Evans like coolants: Mazda is using a long life coolant, able to stand 200.000 km or 11 years for the MX5 NC (FL22 engine). This coolant can't be mixed with another one (like Evans)."Thanks. I'll have a look.Jonathan
Member Jonathan Kay Posted December 31, 2022 Member Share Posted December 31, 2022 Mazda FL22 long life coolant is based on ethylene glycol and is supplied premixed as "55% coolant, 45% water".I'd guess that any difference from traditional coolants is in the inhibitors rather than the bulk coolant.Jonathan
