garybee
Is anyone aware of the internal diameter of the hoses used for the Apollo tank? Car is a 1600K 2004 Academy car (in case this is relevant). I don’t like the tight bend in the lower hose between the alternator belt and tank connection. The hose has flattened out slightly which will be causing a restriction. I’m going to replace that section of hose with a section of rigid pipe but need to know the hose internal diameter to do so. Car not with me at the moment so apologies if it’s written on the hose. Thanks all Gary
Stationary M25 Traveller
Can look later today if no one gets back beforehand. On my SV I don't run the hoses through the belt, but under the alternator. So much nicer. In your case, I would perhaps remove the hose and take it to a hose supplier and get them to fit the end fittings on to a new length of hose. garybee
Ta very much, I would apreciate that. I'm happy with the routing the way it is, it just needs a rigid pipe where the tight bend is.
Harry No Sheds Flatters
Gary Think Automotive can make you a hose to your specification and club members get a discount.
garybee
Handy to know, thank you . I don't really need anything as extravagent as a new hose making up though fortunately. All it needs to remove the restriction is a 'U' shaped pipe about 4" long (with beaded ends) and a couple of jubilee clips.
Stationary M25 Traveller
Just measured OD of Apollo hoses on my car ... 22mm Found a new bit of hose in the garage ..... 15mm bore x 3.5mm wall thickness = 22mm OD. Why not use a bit of 15mm copper tube. Slide a compression olive on to each end and apply a bit of solder to get your bead ? Bend as required with a pipe-bending spring inside
garybee
Excellent, thanks SM25T! Good idea about the copper pipe, that will do perfectly. I like a free fix 😬
Graham D
The working pressure within the pipework you are talking about is in excess of 4 bar. I don't think hose clips will be man enough for that.
