Dan Marsh
Please correct me if I am wrong, but does a new 7 need an MOT 3 years to the day of first registration, or from SVA/IVA approval? Either way, we are quickly approaching both so I would like to know if anyone out there knows of a 7-friendly MOT place in the S Wales area? Are there any key tips and tricks I should know about before going for the first MOT, or is it a pretty painless experience? Cheers DM
Roger Ford
Pretty sure it's from date of first registration.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 17, 2013 Member Share Posted June 17, 2013 Work the brakes hard and get the catalyst up to temperature. Check the relevant emissions test. Discover which setting of your master light switch allows the rear high intensity light to work. Think about asking them to grease the propshaft UJs if relevant. Area Representative Nick Chan Posted June 17, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted June 17, 2013 Its a painless experience esp with such a new car. I always take my cars for a good 20 mile run before heading to the MOT station to get everything up to temperature. If you have an LSD, we don't have the brakes tested on the rollers but let them do a road test instead.
FramerateUK
I took mine to Andy at QMech who did a brilliant job of the service and sorted out the MOT for me - I believe he takes them somewhere local, possibly Blackmill service center but I'm not 100% sure. I did also find a garage in Pontcanna Cardiff, called Du Croq Slip motors who seem to be classic and kit-car specialists, but I couldn't find any feedback about them:
