tonino
bonjour a tous how tight should be a pace belt on a dry sump instalation? i fitted a 1 mm shim between block and pump bracket to give more tension but it looks to be a little bit too tight (20° flex on belt if you know what i mean) without shim, belt is a little bit too loose. (45°flex) and i am able to take the belt off without dismantling pump. what do you reckon guys? cheers antonio
7 wonders of the world
Don't mess with the tension by adding shim's the tension is set by Pace, the additional shims will over tension the belt when the engine is hot as the brackets. block, pump etc all expand a little. People have shimmed these in the past and found the belt snapped due to over tension when hot !!
tonino
will do so, thanks for the advice! antonio
Kevsta
DO NOT SHIM IT!!!!! I did and my belt snapped in 100 miles requiring an engine rebuild!!! (Not Pace's fault - it was my fault). They are quite slack really but they are not required to have any real tension as they are driving the pump that doesn't have much drag. The belt has not been specified to take tension - hence mine snapped! Kev
