TomB
Why is nothing ever straightforward! I’ve obtained two packs of long and short, ‘standard length’ blind, steel rivnuts. So far so good. Drilled out and replaced 3 with ‘normal’ length, then drilled the last 3 and the inner strengthening piece fell in the tank! So the shorter rivnut were not engaging with the inner piece. Thats Ok I’ve got longer ones, so I thought. Upon trying them, turns out the M5 mandrel isn’t long enough to engage sufficient threads in the rivnut to pull, without popping the rivnut off the end of the tool. So I expect I need to find a longer mandrel for a standard quality rivnut tool (Silverline or Lazer), buy or borrow a different tool.
