Molecular--Bob
Looks like mr MOT man will take a dislike to my front shocks as one is leaking, so time to replace. My car is a 1990 super sprint dedion. The car has the stock Spax units at the moment, and they have never been great, so what to replace with? Looking for road use only, and have seen GAZ gold, AVO and Protech within the price range i am looking at. Any one using any of these and have anything to say that might guide my thinking, or are there any other brands i should be looking at?
Pezky
I have Protech shocks on my car, not to expensive and alot better than the previous AVO steel bodied units
Molecular--Bob
I am sort of leaning towards Protech at the moment. Am i right in thinking you have a zetec? If so what spring rate have you on the front?
Pezky
Yep, Zetec fitted Not sure on the spring rate as they are Freestyle "Green" Protech shocks are made to order, alloy bodied. Excellent service. About £90 corner.
bstark
I'm very happy with the GAZ adjustables (and adjustable platforms) on my LA Supersprint. They've been on for a few years now, including successful sprints, trackdays and road use.
jonboylaw
I have a set of GAZ adjustables for sale, for a LA car though. They were fine when I ran them, nice and compliant on the back. Currently running AVOs.
Alan and Daisy
I,ve just fitted AVO's but can't comment yet as I haven't driven the car yet, but I did find them very easy to fit once I had the right tools and the sales person at AVO was very helpful and advised me on the right springs for road and occasional track use.
