strongy
Just got around to fitting an Aldon Dizzie to my xflow, relplacing an old cracked Lucas unit. Aldon has been wired as per Caterham instructions - red wire to + on coil, black wire to white wire on loom adjacent to dizzy. Car runs (really well), but only with the rev counter disconnected from the coil + (still connected to the - otherwise car won't start?) I've searched the archieve but I'm stumped Any ideas before I take it to an auto electrician? Car is a 1989 supersprint and the Rev counter is a VDO with 3 wires coming out of the back - black / green/ white-black. It is the white-black wire that was connected to the coil. strongy
Rev counter is connected to - side of coil, no reading. Do I need to change to a different rev counter now that I have gone from a points system to the Aldon ignitor system?
Revin Kevin
Strongy, You shouldn't need a new rev counter, on the rev counter, red is positive supply, black is earth and the white black is the signal from the coil attached to the neg side of the coil. Should work! Cheers Chris
strongy
All sorted now, thanks for the replies There were 4 white/black wires going to the coil, I think they were for the old Lucas Ignition Amplifier, disconnected and ran a new wire from coil -ive to the tacho and all works fine.
