CaterBram
Depend's on the make of the silencer and if it's actually a repackable one, I've got a 7" Raceco, I only have to undo 4 caps screws which hold the exhaust end cap in place, this then pulls off and then the old packing can be pushed further down and the end refilled with new packing, Don't try & overfill the silencer as this is can be counterproductive. Might be worth posting a make and some pictures up to get more appropriate advice.

Adrian Williams
DONT drill out the rivets. The titanium outer sleeve is attached to the outer ring by the rivets. Removing the bolts as you have done releases the outer ring from the flange and the sleeve and outer ring come off as one. It's normal for the outer sleeve to need persuading to part company with the spun end at the tail pipe end. A piece of hardwood and a knocking stick can be used to tap the sleeve away from the tail pipe end. Adrian
