Distributor K series

Lost Boy

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000 K series supersport and since I built it I have never checked the distributor cap or rotor arm!!

Until I saw the article in Low Flying this month!!

I am now a bit worried if I take the top off it might disintegrate or something!! How exactly will I know if its worn and need replacement either the rotor arm or the contacts (given I haven't seen one in new condition)?

Thanks

IAN

Quoting Mick Day:
Take off the distributor cap & throw it away along with the rotor arm. After 11 years it might fail tomorrow. New parts only cost a few quid so it'll be good for at least a few more years.

I'd agree with the above. For about £15 or so, it's worth just replacing the rotor and cap with new Rover bits. Might be able to get them cheaper from eBay or somewhere similar.
