GasMan
POBC please. I am having a complete restoration of my 7 and was wondering if a stip of this down the sides is worth doing to protect the paint between the wheels. I have been told it can go milky with time and then when removed you have two different shades of paint due to the UV fading the paint which is not covered. I would appreciate the opinion of those who have experience of this. Matthew
Stationary M25 Traveller
Hi Matthew I have a film protection on the front half of my rear wings ... around the carbon stone guards, and up to the top of the arch. Probably original, so 9 years old now. No sign of discolouring yet. See you in May
myothercarsa2cv
Hi Matthew, Given the cost of armourfend, and the fact that it has the potential to look just as tatty as paint after a trip through the gravel, why not just respray the car every 5-10 years? Probably works out about the same cost. John
Silver Machine
Have armourfend on rear wings similar to 'Stationary M25 Traveller' Approaching 14 years now with no milky effect. Given the location on the car the armourfend itself has taken a bit of a scuffing but thats what its for.
john aston
Armourfend is great. My previous Seven had grievous stone damage recurrently- enough for rear wings to look tatty after 6 months- local roads have lots of loose gravel . 3 years plus and my current armourfended car looks almost new. At least it does on the Armourfend bits. Some..erm..patina elsewhere...
GasMan
Thanks guys, I dont need it on the rear wings they are already covered but was thinking about the flanks. My last car got really peppered and I was hoping to reduce this on the new one. From the feedback so far it doesn't sound as if the problem of going milky is a real one for a seven which is garaged and doesn't spend hours outside in all weather. Think I might go for it Matthew
