fred_gustafsson
The three bolts that hold the windscreen stanchions are stuck. My car is almost new and the stanchions were fitted by CC. I tried to use force but afraid I will just damage the bolts if I try any harder. Any ideas?
CageyH
Remove the knee trim panels so you can get to the other side. Give them a good spray with WD40 or plusgas, and try again. Only dead fish go with the flow....! Edited to make sense... Edited by - CageyH on 3 Sep 2010 14:22:
myothercarsa2cv
Assuming you're referring to the three screws that hold the stanchion to the windscreen? That you need a flat head screwdriver for? Have you tried using a larger/longer screwdriver? I seem to remember mine came out fairly easily You are turning them the right way, aren't you? fred_gustafsson
I'm referring to the three allen bolts that hold the stancion itself. The probem is not that they are spinning in the captive nut, they are just bloody stuck.
myothercarsa2cv
Well I'm stumped. I've only got two on each side! Edited as you mention you have captive nuts. Plus gas or WD40, and an allen key on a socket with a big wrench. Ease it round gently, and it shouldn't round. Mr Locust
As Cagey said; The nuts on the back of the dome headed cap screws are not captive (as standard). You need remove the 'knee trims' to gain access to them. Ian Green and Silver Roadsport 😬

fred_gustafsson
Yes, removing the knee panels made all the difference. Thanks again, John. See you tomorrow, I'm easy spotted by the silliest moustasch you ever seen.
