Steve Cragg
Some time ago I bought a set of 42mm DTH Jenvey throttle bodies with the intention of fitting them to my 1.6K Since then I have bought a second hand VVC engine with a plan to convert to solid cams and build up with a circa 190 bhp target. I have just looked at the Jenvey site and see that they refer to 45mm tbs for the VVC engine. Does this mean that the 42mm wont fit? (presumably due to different inlet port diamaters) I am away from home at present so can't check physically before someone suggests I get off my 🙆🏻 and measure them Steve Superlight #
naddy
Weird, I'd been looking into 42mm vs 45mm Jenveys this afternoon... i found this here
naddy
So yeah, the 42mm are fine for 190bhp it seems
rj
The certainly are. Mine did 193.4 last time it was on the RR, and has been asking for more fuel, at peak power, following a change of exhaust.
simonpa
I had 205bhp on a 2000 superlight with an early DVA'd 1.4 (!) head. Also had 210 on an Elise. So, yes, easily good for 190. Oily would be able to advise here regarding VVC/VHPD head port matching as he has fitted 42s and 45s to them :)
oilyhands
42s are ideal, 45s are oversized. This wont do too much harm, just a small drop off in torque in the mid range. The best I have seen from 42mm TBs is 250BHP. TBs do not have a choke like a carburettor so the barrel sizxe is the equivalent of the choke size, 48mm DCOEs have 42mm chokes.... oilyhands
They are esentially the same core casting, only the runner and manifold face are different. Oily
