Area Representative Tin Man Posted October 23, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted October 23, 2009 Hi all My Mitutoyo digimatic indicator battery has expired and I need it to re-time my cams. The instructions sate that I need an SR44 battery, but my my local shop only stocks LR44 batteries. They look the same to me. Is this a correct assumption 🤔 Thank you Regards John
Frying Pan
I think 'SR' batteries are silver oxide and thus longer life. SR44 and LR44 are the same capsule size so should be universally interchangeable. Maplin will almost certainly sell them  See some pictures of the build here. 17000 miles completed! shn7
Always found the Small Battery Company very useful for such checks. Clunky website but the search works and offers all the alternatives for each type. Quick service and good prices too when I've used them. Steve. Pooh_R
Our local pound shop sells a sheet of small cells - about 6 off of 8 different types. On the back is a look up table providing equivalent part numbers. As others have said, LR44 and SR44 can be used interchangably.
Area Representative Crudders Posted October 29, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted October 29, 2009 I recently bought one of those pound shop selection packs to replace the button cells in my digital vernier. I had the same LR/SR concern initially but haven't had any problems. I expect the pound shop cells are somewhat lacking in capacity but on the plus side I do have quite a decent stock of them  Cruds
