grahambiddulph
Anyone out there know where I can purchase side mirrors that fit to the car when the side screens are off. i.e. when the wind deflectors are on. I assume they will fit onto the windscreen frame. *wavey*
jamiegb
Try Nifty - he may have some left over or may be organising another bulk buy some time - great equipment
Stationary M25 Traveller
Or SPA - they do a variety of units that can be fitted to the windscreen stanchion, so they can be used with or without the sidescreens. Photos of my GT/Le Mans convex mirrors from SPA here. Edited by - Stationary M25 Traveller on 1 May 2009 19:13:
dalongbloke
Or... europa do an overtaking mirror in stainless. Reverse it on the arm, bend back a little and it will clamp on the stantion!! £15 budget solution! Works for me.. though I've ended up cutting down the wind deflector as well... you can just see it in last photo below Check out Hal... http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/dalongbloke Edited by - dalongbloke on 1 May 2009 21:56:
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted May 1, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted May 1, 2009 Hi Graham, Are you after the small racing type mirrors that are often seen on aeroscreens or ones similar size to the normal door mirrors that are fitted for SVA purposes? In both instances they fit to the screen when you remove the middle screw on the windscreen stanchion. Nick ----- Back in a BEC! - But trying to get into Class 1... grahambiddulph
HI Nick, Yes the small ones would be good. Where do these come from, also do you mean that the old mirrors from the side screens will also fit onto the windscreen frame. Do I need to get new bolts or screws to fit these. Area Representative Nick Chan Posted May 2, 2009 Area Representative Share Posted May 2, 2009 Hi Graham, The small racing mirrors would come from somewhere like Demon Tweeks or similar and very likely to be available at Stoneleigh this weekend. For the SVA mirrors, a new stud is screwed into the windscreen stanchion which allows the mirrors to be clipped and fixed into place. The mirrors and screw are a kit I think but a similar size to the normal door mirrors. Cheers Nick ----- Back in a BEC! - But trying to get into Class 1... Andy Whittle
Don't forgot that RiF (Carbon Bits) also sells a good range of mirrors and fittings, including stanchion mounts, at pretty reasonable prices. myothercarsa2cv
If you want to give the SVA ones a go Graham, I have mine left over you're welcome to them (for a donation to NtL, of course 😬). I'm missing a grub screw on one of them, but I'm sure you'll be able to get hold of one from CC. Swapping the mirrors over is a little fiddly, and takes me about 10minutes a mirror. This is quite a cheap solution though. TobyCoulson
I've got Rif mirrors and they are very good although I would advise you get the ones with the full "widescreen lenses" as I have the carbon ones and they tend to need a bit of getting used to due to the flat screen.
