Brooksy
Just acquired a hood for my academy car but no sticks. Would the roll cage act as a suitable frame for the hood or will I still need sticks? Cheers all
ChrisHawkins
When I had a cage (Roadsport) fitted the hood sticks were not needed and could not be fitted, the top of the cage acts as one stick and where the other one should be the hood sags. jchasey
I used to have the weather kit for an Academy car (08) with full cage and the hood sticks were required, not enough tension otherwise. I ended up selling it however since you can't use the weather kit in a race and my non-race driving tends to be in good weather only. John

Brooksy
Hi Andy Thanks for the offer. I am now debating whether to go down the half door/tonneau route or stick with full doors/hood. How much would you be looking for the sticks out of curiosity? All the best
andy_h
They're very expensive you know and vey hard to come by, a bit like second hand half doors At least a tenner 😬 White road legal 2.0 HPC VX race car 😬
Roger Ford
Mine has sticks. They don't really seem necessary but do provide a bit of extra tension. Only used the hood about five times in total though - certainly haven't used it in the last four years. If it's raining and I really need to drive the Caterham, I just wear waterproofs. h_____
Never used the hood sticks on my car with cage, esp. if you have cage padding on the cage - and you should!!! they do help keep the boot cover taught though.
