jingars
After being black flagged due to noise at Donington last week, I have removed my silencer. This is a Caterham 5" repackable race can. It looks like the can is "out of round" and the previous owner has confirmed he sealed it using Hylomar. The bits of this that I can see suggest that it might be a silicone sealant of some kind Try as I might, I can't get the $&**£! end off. Anyone got any hints or tips? I would rather not just put it back on and forget about it.
Stationary M25 Traveller
Have you tried silicone remover - available from DIY stores ? Or naked flames ? 7 related photos

Stationary M25 Traveller
Silly question - if you are allowed sharp objects - can you run a sharp knife blade between the can and the end cap to cut through the sealant (at least in the bit on the side between the two). Who mentioned a bit on the side 😳 7 related photos
jingars
Yep, done that for two-thirds of the way round; I cannot even get a stanley knife blade in for the other third.

jingars
Good news - a bit of heat did the trick (and was also fun to do) Bad news - the packing seems to be pristine; the car really is that noisy! It sounds great , but I think that I will have to give 98 dB track days a miss ☹️ Thanks again for your help
