R400 noise

Hi guys!

 

 

I am planning to do an Abingdon airfield day in August (first one for me on the R400 so would like a bit of a run off area just in case 😬). The track limit is 100db. Will my stock (cat + silencer) Duratec sneak under it? They measure at 4500 RPM 0.5m away.

 

I know, it has been discussed in detail before, but primarily about the cars without a cat.

I don't know for sure because I suspect it will be close, personally I think you'll struggle but if your silencer is well packed then you might be OK. The best way to find out is to go to one of their days just to have a noise test done - maybe Abingdon is the closest to you?

I have an R400 Duratec, standard exhaust + cat, got tested at Oulton Park at 98db...no question duratec is quieter at the exhaust than my previous R400 (K series)

I've had some bother with my standard exhaust but you should be fine measured at only 4500 static.

I have a noise meter at home, but my car's at the CC for SVA/DVLA at the moment, so I cannot test it just yet. 😬

 

I think I will chance it and just sign up.
