robert green
I have just had new brake pads fitted front (1144's) and rear (std pads). I know that they will take a few miles to bed in, but how long until my brakes improve in terms of peddle firmness and bite. Is there anything I should (or shouldn't) be doing to help the process along? Robert Green Zetec with Clams
Jason Plato
depends how worn and grooved your disks are - the pads have to wear into these grooves and pits . Try driving with a bit of left foot braking applied to speed up the bedding in. new disks I find bed in with about 20 stops from 80mph > 30 mph here is C7 TOP Taffia rear gunner
Dickie Normuss
This is what came with mine. Bedding in for 1144's: 2-3 light applications from 30 - 0 3-4 moderate applications 70 - 30 Then let them completely cool off VX HPC - Loud and proud here Watch out, whatever hits the fan will not be distributed evenly
Kevsta
Did you clean the discs before fitting the new ones? Were they 1144's before? If not then you must use garnet paper or similar to clean the discs back to the disc metal (so no pad residue is on them) to ensure you get the best performance from the pads.
