Lost Boy
Can anyone help? A mate of mine with a Classic VX was toghtening his battery terminals when he made contact with the bodywork from the live terminal , there were a few sparks but no drama. Issue is it now won't start! We have all other electricals no problem, an ignition light but nothing else, not even a click! Is there a fuse on the starter circuit somewhere around the starter motor? Any suggestions greatly received. Thanks I've got the Green & Yellow Fever!
stevefoster
No fuse, but the solenoid switch carries the starting current. I had similar on my MGA. Check all the big connections that carry the main current. It is quite possible to have smallish current users working - lights, ignition, horn etc working and for the duff connection not to carry the crank amps that are many times higher. This failing check that the ignition switch circuit is giving the solenoid the nod as well and work things back. Johnty Lyons
Can't pinpoint your lack of power BUT a worthwhile tip When disconnecting or connecting a battery always disconnect the NEG terminal first and reconnect last that way you have no chance of shorting anything out. jj N.I. Lost Boy
Thanks Chaps, your help very much appreciated. After much head scratching , traced to a loose wire from the ignition barrel ! How very annoying. Cheers I've got the Green & Yellow Fever!
