Area Representative paul richards Posted January 6, 2007 Area Representative Share Posted January 6, 2007 Not certain of the dimensions, but most Ford English axles were the same, as fitted to the Escort. The Ford English Axles fitted to Capris were wider. Paul Richards Area Representative - L.A.D.S. elie boone
I have both axle models at home, banjo and the one that open on the back from a Escort van and both are 48 1/2" Maybe the one from a 60's Cortina is 47 1/2" ?
rop
Cortina Mk. 1 is narrower than the later axles. /rop Eppur si muove
STEVE GILBERT
Why do you need a narrow one? When I fitted one in my Fireblade I used 1/2 spacers on top of long studs and with the extra width of the disc conversion. This was with 7j rims to get them out to the edge of the arches. Area Representative paul richards Posted January 7, 2007 Area Representative Share Posted January 7, 2007 Oh Yes forgot about Mk1 Cortina. Yes this is narrower and I seem to recall the bearings on the halfsahft were narrower also. Can't imagine there are many Mk1 Cortina axles about now though, even MK2 Escort axles are becoming like hens teeth. Paul Richards Area Representative - L.A.D.S.
