Area Representative Crudders Posted October 19, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted October 19, 2006 Is this car destined to be K9 JPE Mk. III? Lovely car - wouldn't have hesitated if the money was burning a hole in my pocket. Cruds

Alex Wong1697456877
The BHP things is so hard to understand. My Swindon JPE engine on it's weber alpha setup made 249.8BHP on Swindon's dyno. My Q450 QED engine made 241 BHP on QED's dyno). QED have a reputation for being conservative with their estimates. If indeed the JPE engine only makes 230 ish BHP and the QED one made more than 241, why does the JPE engine feel a bit faster? It also crossed the line at Curborough at consistantly 100-101Mph. The QED engine was consistantly 99MPH. I find it harder and harder to attach meaning to such numbers.
EFA
"My Swindon JPE engine on it's weber alpha setup made 249.8BHP on Swindon's dyno. " Out of interest Alex, does this engine have 'Caterham' cast in the inlet manifold? Also, what exhaust were you using? Mike C
FWIW, this car sold within 48hrs at near the owners full asking price. The car has gone to a good club member who already has a JPE. It was worth every penny Nick Mike C K9 JPE
Alex Wong1697456877
Arnie, It does have Caterham cast on the manifold. I Believe Swindon matched it to the head. Eric told me that they use a 4:1 rig of similar spec to the standard Vx system but with a bigger outlet on the 4:1 collector. I'm using DaveK's 4-2-1 system on the car.
