Grindrod
Hi , as a matter of interest; Is a throttle body conversion to a traditional carb fed crossflow a realistic / worthwhile venture . Advantages ?many thanks
oilyhands
There is a lot to change/add, TBs, ECU, tank and pump, fuel lines, injectors , crank sensor and trigger, TPS. It would be no bad thing to go with proper 3D mapped ignition too. There is a section in my engine management page on converting from carbs to injection and on converting to mapped ignition, it might be worth a read. I have converted a couple of xflows to full management and it transforms the engine. If you go to www.dvandrews.co.uk and follow the link to 'Engine management systems explanation and conversions' there is a wealth of information and the upgrade sections.Dave

eric
Normally people prefers Carburators . Injection will transform the engine but you will loose the charm and the authenticity . Why don't you buy a Rover Caterham , il is easier .
7 wonders of the world
If you want to gain the full improvement on a X/flow you need to be looking to change the awfull manifold as this encourages fuel to drop out irrespective of how its fed, using an inclined manifold need a new bonnet too though, you wont see the full benefit without a mappable ignition either, So if you doing a full rebuild then yes, high flow head decent cam etc etc etc otherwise you wont see the full return on your investment
Drumster
Andy Couchman of this parish has converted his 1986 x/flow to a very sweet 170bhp(?) TB'd engine, hopefully he'll be along to impart his knowledge
Ed White
Any info from Andy or oilyhands apprecaited, as I've quite a lot of nice xflow bits and i'd like to build a quick one, just because really. Ta
