Rev Counter

Loving this snagging, I guess everyone has a few issues on the first home build

Further to a couple of issues posted earlier,I now find that the rev counter only reads up to about 1000 rpm despite the actual engine rpm. It's almost like it is reading  1/10 of actual rpm. Any ideas??

Does the indication move at all when you blip the throttle?

Does it drop to zero with the ignition on and the engine stopped?

All other instruments now OK and the instrument lights working?

...

There's not much that you can adjust... check the connections on the instrument and to the ECU.

Some have switches that allow setting for number of cylinders and whether there is lost spark ignition.

These are often inline switches on the back of the instrument.

If that is the problem then the indication will blip up and down nicely even though the numbers are wrong.

Hi Jonathan,

The wiring diagram that came with my 2008 kit is the source of the pics I posted.  The resistor hangs down behind the dash near the ignition switch, and could well be there to control the ignition warning light.  It may have nothing to do with the OP's problem!

I'm not even sure that the latest cars (with different instruments) use the same resistor, or what it might look like.  This is mine:
