finmac
Last year I bought a lovely low miles one owner R300 K. Checking it's significant history file reveals the belt was done around 1000 miles ago back in 2017. Does it need done again I wonder?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 31, 2023 Member Share Posted March 31, 2023 There's quite a lot on this in the archives,IIRC it's often recommended to change at least every 5 years, regardless of use or mileage. (James Whiting's schedule had "48.000 miles".) And to have a look at the water pump while you're down there.Jonathan
simon_h
For the sake of a £50 belt kit and a couple of hours work why wouldn't you do it?
Wrightpayne
A bit more involved if you have or are fitting verniers. There is a few degree 'slop' on the crank ribbed belt pulley when the bolt is undone. This can alter the cam timing if it moves.
Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted April 1, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted April 1, 2023 It is time not miles that judge when a K belt should be changed. Five years is the normal limit at which to change along with the tensioner assembly.Cam shaft pulley clamp & large screwdriver in flywheel ring gear teeth & jobs a good'un.
