  1. Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, prosperous and safe New Year to all of our sprinting pals.  I've really missed competing this year and our new house build means I won't able to return in 2019.  We look forward to seeing you at some events, though.

Have a great Christmas and good luck with the winter upgrades!

    Andrew and Janice

  2. Janice and I are delighted to announce the engagement of our daughter Lisa to Mr Gary Beezer, both former competitors in the Speed Championship.  Needless to say, we're very excited and looking forward to their big day in August 2019.  Andrew and Janice

  3. After ten years of great competition I have decided to retire from the Lotus Seven Club Speed Championship and my car is now for sale.  I've had a brilliant time and have made many great friends, but other projects mean that now is the time to hang up my race boots.

My car has shown itself to be capable of great results and details can be found in the For Sale section.

  4. After ten years of great competition I have decided to retire from the Lotus Seven Club Speed Championship and my car is now for sale.

    Specification:

2001 Caterham Roadsport A 1600 (basically Superlight 1600 spec with the race chassis and no carbon fibre).

    • Series 3 chassis
    • DVA modified 1.6 Rover K series engine (153.9bhp) – see below
    • McLaren orange with black cycle wings
    • Dry-sumped
    • Forged pistons
    • 6-speed gearbox
    • Limited-slip diff
    • Wide track suspension
    • Minilite 13” wheels
    • De Dion rear suspension
    • Standard 4-1 Caterham exhaust
    • Full roll cage (newer type with curved outer bars)
    • Side impact bar
    • Lowered driver’s floor
    • Tillett seats
    • Perspex aeroscreen
    • Modified for HANS device (5’ 9” driver)
    • Plumbed-in fire extinguisher
    • Quick-release Momo 260mm steering wheel
    • Soft Bits for Sevens fitted tonneau

In 2011 the engine was modified by Dave Andrews (DVA Power) who fitted:

    • Piper 1320 cams
    • Ported cylinder head
    • Modified plenum
    • New uprated head gasket, bolts, gaskets and oil seals
    • Verniers
    • Forged pistons

Last season it was fitted with a new radiator and new tyres (Yokohama A539).  The tyres were shaved by Midland Tyre Shaving, Soham, and have only done one event and no road miles.   It has new front brake discs and pads and is ready for the 2017 season.

It’s not a polisher’s car, but its hillclimb and sprint record shows what it’s capable of.  Rated at 153.9bhp on Northampton Motorsport’s rolling road it’s perfect for Class 2 but could also be used in Class 3 with wheels and tyres changed.  It would make more power with an uprated exhaust.

In its current spec the car has had much success, being driven by both my son, Matthew, and me:

2013:   Class 2 win (Matthew) and second place (me).  Matthew won the overall championship, winning all 7 of the events he’d entered.

    2014:  Class 2 win (me).

    2015:  Class 2 win (me)

    2016:  Class 2 third (me)

Numerous track records are held, as seen in the Competitors Area of the website.

    Price: £13,750

For further details please Blatmail me.

  5. Unfortunately, I've had to withdraw my entries for the two Anglesey events on 1-2 October.  I'd made a booking for room at the Prince Llewelyn B&B at Aberffraw for the nights of Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October, which I've cancelled and which is now available.  It's an excellent place, close to the circuit, and several competitors and officials stay there.  Details here:  http://www.angleseybandb.co.uk/accomm.asp

Really sorry not to be battling with the Class 2 boys at Anglesey, but I'll be back in 2017!

    Andrew

  6. Thank you to all of our fellow competitors who helped us to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary today at Harewood. We're lucky to have such a great group of friends. Andrew and Janice.
  7. I wondered if anyone had any unused tickets for the Sunday meeting at Harewood - ideally we need three in total.  We'll be dropping the car off at Harewood on Saturday late afternoon so could collect then or on Sunday morning.  Thank you!  Andrew
