  1. Not that I know of Roger, but if it's any help, the Redline ones are a bit rough. They're intended for race use, and if you are after a nice finish, you'll really need to do a bit of filling & painting to true it all up.

     

    They're based on a mould of standard arches that've had 2" (If I recall) set into them, and you can see this.

     

    I'd suggest you give it a go yourself, either widen your existing pair by setting a piece in, or make a widening piece to go between the wing & the body (A local car has this, and I think Mike Biddle maybe does too). Alloy channel bent to the correct radius should do the trick.

  2. About to replace the tyres on my 7 and thought I'd check first to see if anyone has any spares sitting around which might hopefully save me a few punts.

     

    Prefer wider on rear so probaly 185 front and 205 rear.

     

    For road use, so need to have good tread please.

    Has been fitted as some small dents/dings on the tube that lies underneath, but must've been re-powdercoated as no bare metal. A few marks from storage, but nothing bad. No bolts with it, although these will be easy got.

     

    Not sure what it's worth, £70?

  4. That'll be the air temp sensor. I removed mine from the backplate. The thought of having a big retaining nut which could possibly vibrate off and down the trumpets kept me up at night.

     

    Also, it has been known that on some cars with alloy backplates, once parked up after a run, there is sufficient heat conducted through the material to create false readings of hot air.

     

  5. Apologies for the confusion over these cameras. I now also have a photo of the recorder spec as I found the user manual (Still haven't found the second recorder though). Anyone interested can blatmail me for it.

     

    Realising these are 520 and not 720, I'm not sure on price. If anyone wants to make an offer, feel free before I put the lot on eBay. If anyone fancies trying bullet cams, I'll take just about any decent offer.

     

     

  6. Just rang him, unfortunately he doesn't have any.

     

    I've run our local fasteners shops and no go there, nobody has much bigger than 1/4". Pah.

     

    I could get the ones from Jonathan's link, at that price they'd need to be polished titanium.

     

    Bound to be somewhere that does them; I'll just need to keep hunting and maybe look at places based in the 'States.

  7. Black would be fine, any finish would be fine. If you were able to find some Ian, I'd be super grateful.

     

    It's for the front roll cage mounts on a roadsport cage. The boss in the chassis is threaded, so I want to put a pretty screw in from each side. It's purely for asthetics as the original ignorant hex head screw and nut really annoyed me.

     

    If I can't get them, I can get countersunk ones, and then I'll just have to turn up deep washers with a countersunk face.

     

    Will ring Namrick now and see what they say. Thanks for the help, really would like the button heads if possible.

  8. Found another few items to sell.

     

    First up is a Pipercross backplate, blank, got it with my P604D but I went for a deep backplate in the end. £18

     

    I have 2 bullet cam kits that I bought off Linds when he was running Sevenspeed. These were over £200 at the time, about £250 if I recall.

     

    They have a couple of different mounts and have a remote wired external mic, proper standalone bullet cam (Which you can upgrade if you like) and have a small lcd type screen with buttons that you can view the camera feed from, play back etc. They record to an SD card which mounts in the side of the screen/display unit (I fitted to the tunnel so you can work it while driving). The cameras themself mount lovely to the roll cage and give a good view over the cockpit.

     

    I don't actually have any footage to show you. Well, I did...but when I watched it myself I was terrified it would get into the wrong hands and deleted it. I bought them as I was running a Caterham hire business and wanted to make a video. They have both been fitted but hardly used at all.

     

    The cameras are 720p, and so are good quality compared to all in one bullet cam setups, but are not on par with the modern 1080, GoPro HD leaque of things. That being said, they're not bad...and they're certainly not in GoPro HD price range either. Footage is smooth, not jumpy or wavy like you tend to get in cheaper kits.

     

    Being brutally honest, these are a great bullet cam kit to give it a try and see if you fancy recording racing, trackdays, sprints or laps of McDonalds carpark. They are not dvd quality, but you could upgrade the camera if you like, so it's perfect to give videoing a go, and if you get hooked, just upgrade the camera itself (Keep the recorder).

     

    I'm asking £99 for the pair. Beats the life out of duct taping your iPhone to the roll bar ;o)

    Thanks for clarifying the proper title as now I know what to ask for.

     

    The link above is for No.6 x 7/16", which is a tiny wee screw 7/16" in length rather than diamater. Unfortunately they don't do the bigger ones, and googling turns up similar results; can't find them over 1/2" diameter.

     

    I thought I'd be able to find some online handy enough, but might have to resort to ringing around local guys. Was trying to avoid it as they hate small orders for oddball things and usually get you over "Yeh, sure we have plenty" to offer you something completely different.

    Neil, apologies, but I don't have those bits. Use it as an excuse for a carbon dash which has the longer legs so you don't need them.

    Sorry for the confusion, but got an email to ask if it had the holes between the speedo and tacho; went to check and realised it's for a Stack dash.

     

    Feel like a right nit now.

     

    The alloy dash is for standard gauges.

     

    I assume that means it's of no use to you?

  13. Hi Stu,

     

    For what it's worth, in the original setup of K breathers on standard engines, one goes to the atmospheric side of the butterfly, and the other to the plenum side of the butterfly.

     

    In my understanding of it, this means the crankcase always has an atmospheric breather, but it also can see a depression in the plenum (Throttle closed at revs). The depression means the atmospheric breather is a higher pressure, and so it'll circulate clean, filtered, air into the crankcase from atmosphere, and out into the lower pressure of plenum and into combustion process.

     

    On some cam covers you'll actually find a tight wire gauze behind the out (Plenum) breather. This is to stop too much oil mist being drawn into the plenum. I once ran a cam cover without the gauze, and very high oil level (So lots of windage & mist). If you were doing high revs then shut the throttle, next time you gave it throttle a Jame's Bond style smoke screen was activated. Plenum was coated with oil inside. I concluded it was being pushed in by atmosphere when plenum in depression (Poor plenum 😬), pooling in the plenum as no real air flow until you opened the throttle when the airflow carried it in.

     

    That's just my experience/conclusion on what the breathers are doing. Just might help you understand what's going on a bit better so you can work out how to route your breathers.

     

    For example, if you put one to your airbox backplate, and the other ends up atmospheric, you'll be replicating the original system, so what you might assume to be a "filtered clean air into crankcase" is actually the crankcase oily mist out (And into your roller barrels).

     

    I could never really understand why you would need the one connected to the plenum in the original setup; but just read that Peter C post and that makes sense. It's been said that K heads tend to be slow at draining oil, and so the plenum breather would be the way of helping this. When you've beeing lacing it at high revs and there's a pile of oil in the head, when you shut the throttle, the depression means it'll get it all back into the sump quicker than it would if purely atmospheric.

     

    Hope some of that helps; just in from a wet single speed commute, so in a waffling mood. Sorry.
